Did You Ever Swim With Pigs?
I recently adopted a new annual tradition, which is to escape the Canadian winters with a week in the Bahamas. On my first trip there, I learned about an interesting “bucket list” item, according to some: swimming with pigs. While one of the beach vendors peaked my interest with this odd type of excursion, swimming with pigs never was on my bucket list. It might have not made the cut because of me being blissfully unaware that swimming with pigs was a thing, or maybe it should have never been really something I was interested in. Either way, it turned out to be an interesting sight.
The pigs live on Big Major Cay, one of the many islands in the Exuma district of the Bahamas. My new beach-vendor-friend explained the day trip would take us to the uninhabited island Pig Beach. I wonder how they came up with the name. The only way to get there is by boat, his boat preferably.
