Giving back to the community
I recently wrote a blog post about being almost homeless in Paris. That was a very unpleasant and scary experience for me. It’s not the way I like to enjoy the experience of travel. I’ve had some serious conversations with the travel site responsible for that disaster, hoping my story will prevent this from happening to other travelers in future. Because being homeless is something I don’t wish for anyone to happen.
My home base is in Calgary, Canada. It gets pretty cold here, and the first snowfall is well behind us. This year we were covered in some serious snow in September. I’ve never seen it that early. Winter is coming, and for those of you not familiar with the great white north – temperatures dipping below -30 are no exception. So while being homeless in Paris was unpleasant, it’s nothing compared to living on the streets of this icy town. While I’m no expert on being homeless, I’d probably pick Paris over Calgary anytime if I had the choice.
