Happy Monday: Why your Manager doesn’t have a clue either
I’ve been very lucky to have worked at some companies where management believed in the people they hired, valued their opinions and used everyone’s input for many decisions that were being made. I’ve also seen the complete opposite, where management believes that employees are not to be trusted, and should be limited in terms of their freedom to move. That’s not just figuratively speaking: I’ve seen literal examples where offices were locked down with security systems, entry cards, cameras and guards like it was a maximum security prison. I’ve seen the inside of a real prison (as a visitor), as well as the corporate “prison” (as an inmate), and neither of those environments bring out real creative juices. Cells or cubicles, in a way they’re the same: we’re all trapped on the inside.
