Travel on a shoestring or not at all – Is travel expensive?

A lot of people I’ve met enjoy my story about travelling and the experiences that I’m able to share. Many of them have commented about how they’ve always wanted to go travel more themselves, but were held back by so many things that kept them in the place where they were.

They said ‘I’m not able to travel because…

• I can’t leave my job

• I can’t leave my wife

• I can’t leave my house,

• I can’t leave anything of this behind

• …

Obviously some of those are very, very valid reasons.

But what worked very well for me is that is the realisation that once I made it to a destination, I could do whatever I want when I was there.

I could make it very expensive and eat at fancy restaurants. I could also make it very cheap and just have something small to go or eat at a food court or a pizza place.
