Travelling To Atlantis Bahamas? Here’s All You Need To Know
Considering a trip to the Atlantis Bahamas? If you’ve never been to the Bahamas, you don’t know what you’ve been missing. Visiting this beautiful destination has become an annual tradition for me. The islands of the Bahamas offer a unique experience, and many people dream of a vacation in the Bahamas. I was invited to stay at Atlantis Bahamas, a world-class resort near the main city of Nassau. As with every destination I visit, the same adage applies here. A trip to the Atlantis Bahamas need not be as expensive as you may think.
The Main Islands
There are two main islands: New Providence Island and Grand Bahama Island. But there’s more. There are many smaller islands. To name a few: Abacos, Acklins, Andros, The Berry Islands, Bimini, Cat Island, Eleuthera, The Exumas, Inagua, Mayaguana, and San Salvador. All the islands offer beautiful vacation spots. Crystal clear turquoise waters, endless white sand beaches and beautiful weather come standard. Combining these ingredients creates a vacation experience that’s hard to duplicate.
Getting There
Several airlines fly to the Bahamas. Coming from Canada, most people travel with a stopover in Toronto. From there the flight to Nassau is less than four hours. If you live in the US, your travel time is even less. If you stay at Atlantis, you can fly directly to Nassau. Paradise Island is a short taxi ride away from the airport. If you’re staying at another island, you’ll take a connecting flight from Nassau. Another option is to take a cruise. Nassau is a very popular stop for ships from almost every cruiseline. Always check the passport and visa regulations before you travel.
Relaxation Time… Are You Ready?
Need to relax? The beaches are second to none, I spent most of my time there enjoying the sun. If you like to golf, there are several world-class golf courses at your disposal. There are several casinos offering slot machines and table games. Admitted, the slots here were tighter than the ones on the Vegas Strip.
English is the primary language in the Bahamas, so you don’t need to worry about a language barrier. The locals are friendly, and they love welcoming new visitors. I made some instant friends with the beach vendors. Admitted, they can get a bit annoying at times trying to make a quick buck off the tourists. I overheard hotel security a few times trying to get them to leave.
Even if you’re not staying there, make sure you at least wander through Atlantis. The resort is like a big sea-life experience with sharks, dolphins, and stingrays.
Different Towers To Stay
The accommodations on the resort range from moderately priced to very expensive. On most booking sites each tower is listed as a separate hotel. To help you find the one for you, here’s the overview, ranging from lowest to highest in price. Coral Towers is the most centrally located tower at Atlantis. The Coral Towers is also closest to the Predator Lagoon and the Lagoon Pool. The Cove is the ultra-luxury, high end hotel tower featuring a private pool.
Keep in mind that on top of your hotel rate, you’ll pay a resort fee, as well as a daily housekeeping gratuity, and the hotels automatically adds a gratuity to all your food and beverage purchases. Given the location of the resort, there isn’t a lot of dining options nearby that are not part of Atlantis, so all these fees and gratuities can add up quickly.
A beach vacation at Atlantis is something your entire family will love. There is something here to keep everyone occupied, from the beaches to fun on the slides. If your family enjoys the best of fun and the beach, Atlantis is something your whole family will enjoy – and love coming back to.
On a side note – if you’re travelling without kids, right next door to Atlantis you’ll find the all inclusive, adults only Riu Palace Paradise Island resort.
